They are in reality small tea lights, wrapped in thin coloured paper that together with the real starlight create a magic atmosphere.<br \/>\nThis beautiful marvelous sight occur every year in honor of Stella Maris\u2019 Madonna, Protector of the sailors.<\/p>\n<p>It is the<strong> feast of Camogli\u2019s Stella Maris<\/strong>, a tribute to Virgin Mary that take place in the very heart of the town and also in the nearer village of Punta Chiappa, every first Sunday of August_ this year will be on the 6th August_ from 1924.<br \/>\nAt that time Don Nicol\u00f2 Lavarello, Chapelain of San Nicol\u00f2 di Capodimonte Church, decided to restore the statue of the Madonna, which was set for a very long time in a newspaper kiosk on the \u201cPunta\u201d of the promontory.<br \/>\nAnd so it was organized a <strong>procession of boats<\/strong> that departing from the harbour of Camogli, escorted back to the \u201cPunta\u201d promontory the statue of the Madonna \u201cStella del Mare\u201d.<br \/>\nFrom that day onwards the procession is been repeated every years.<br \/>\nEven if the worship of Stella Maris is probably much older: we must come back to the XV century when the town\u2019s fishermen started to pray the Madonna in order to curry favor for a safe sail and a generous fishing.<\/p>\n<div class=\"spazio30\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-385\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.cenobio.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/stella-maris-camogli-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"803\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.cenobio.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/stella-maris-camogli-01.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/blog.cenobio.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/stella-maris-camogli-01-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.cenobio.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/stella-maris-camogli-01-768x514.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.cenobio.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/stella-maris-camogli-01-1024x685.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"spazio30\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>The Madonna of Stella Maris has a dedicated altar, located on the <strong>Promontory of Punta Chiappa<\/strong> and also a painting that is collocated in Camogli\u2019s Church.<br \/>\nSince when the feast became official a greater number of believers have come to the city to join it, coming also from the closer towns on board their own boats.<br \/>\nToday it is still as in that period: Stella Maris is a very cherished feast, it is in the heart of seafaring people and his charm lure many visitors.<br \/>\nAlthough the laying of the tea lights on the sea is the most scenographic and probably the most common picture of the feast, the whole day is actually dedicated to this celebration.<br \/>\nStarting from 10 am from Camogli it departures a procession of different kinds of boats all adorned for the occasion.<br \/>\nAll the boats sail to Punta Chiappa following U Drag\u00fcn, the historical vessel that made Camogli famous all around the world for his participation in many challenging crossings.<br \/>\nIt is named after the Dragonara Castle a fortification built as protection for the town. It was assembled by the hands of the \u201cMaestro d\u2019Ascia\u201d ( a craftsman) Ido Battistoni that created this beautiful vessel from an old skiff.<\/p>\n<p>From that old skiff it was built a proper ship of eleven meters length with two sails and twelve oars.
